Other World Dangers

Should some doors remain closed? Absolutely. But not this one. If you are a supernatural, and even it you aren’t, you’re probably all too familiar with Other World attractions and dangers. Neil Gaiman’s 2002 novel about a little girl who tries out something she shouldn’t only scratches the surface, but those scratches are nice and deep, as in profoundly creepy in a pleasantly spooky way. OK, it’s more cute than scary but it’s still odd and I like the Other World scenes. No wonder the 2009 3-D stop-motion horror/fantasy film based on the book was nominated for an Oscar. Button-eyed or not, there’s plenty of nice near-dead stuff to love here. By the way, Coraline Jones moved from Michigan to Oregon. That’s how it all started. There are lots of zombies in Michigan and Oregon.
