ZOMBIES IN LOVE
February 6, 2010 – February 22, 2010
Can zombies find love? Apparently so … at Gallery Nucleus.
Charming, right? The living dead take over in a large-scale group exhibition of new and original drawings, paintings, and sculptures by artists from film to fine art. Have trouble scaring up images of the undead? It’s a zombie lover’s dream with zombies in action and non-action poses. Haunted, harried, hot, hilarious—from zombie babies to Zombie Kong and my personal fave: Ippel Gyoubu’s “Franken Lilly.”
Jim McPherson gets all lovey-dovey with “Mr. & Mrs. Zombie” and “Secret Hearts.” Others like illustrating the lurking loneliness that exhausts. But whether it’s traditional “Mona Zombie” and “Buck Zombie” (both by William Stout) or crazy-wild zombie girls like d’Hoibachie-Yoko’s “You’re my Heat, You’re my Soul,” (only $900, too bad it’s sold), the zombie styling is worth a long, rubber-necking gawk.
The show’s up till February 22, 2010. Shopping and eye-popping online 24-7 at Gallery Nucleus or in the flesh 7 days a week.
More on the calendar.
