Girls Love Gore

Girls do want to be grossed out … well, some of them. That’s what the Sony execs decided when the exit polls for “Silent Hill,” a gory horror movie based on the video game became a top grossing film when it debuted. Women made up nearly half the audience. Finally girls are going to shed that scaredy-cat image and stand up to the monsters … or maybe even be one.

“A generation of young women has been reared in the firm belief that they can do anything, from winning a skateboard championship to becoming school president. Going to blood-soaked movies is one more club they can now feel free to join.”
