By now you know The Walking Dead (AMC) did not win the Golden Globe for Best Dramatic Series. That honor went to Boardwalk Empire (HBO), the series based on a historical character, Enoch “Nucky” Thompson, and the birth, high times, and corruption of Atlantic City.
In other words, it’s a series about living people who prey on other living people and who are naturally much faster, smarter, and better at it than zombies.
I happen to think the star of the show, Steve Buscemi, deserves his Best Actor in a Dramatic Series award. He would have made an incredible zombie too, and there is no doubt in my mind that if he were starring in The Walking Dead, it would have won.
Certainly the creative punch and power of Martin Scorsese, who has a big hand in the HBO show, which included producing the most expensive pilot in television history, also had a lot to do with it. Why can’t they spend that kind of lucre on zombies?
All of this is simply proof of the old adage that if you want to find out how things happen, don’t follow the brains … follow the money!
