Even Perez Hilton can’t help getting excited about a new zombie flick—this one pits Boy Scouts against zombies— reporting that Andy Fickman may direct. Yes, sometimes I dumpster dive into a world of pink bubblegum as I follow the zombie spoor.
Fickman’s musical adaptation of the 1936 cult classic Reefer Madness won a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award and he went on to directing other fine films like Who’s Your Daddy, She’s the Man and the 2009 Disney remake of Race to Witch Mountain. OK, not so great, but he could be the perfect director for a film about a group of Boy Scouts on a weekend camping trip who must protect a troop of Girl Scouts from a zombie outbreak … not to be confused with the heartache of an outbreak of teen blemishes which can only be battled with clearasil or some other fiercely effective anti-zit product.
The script, which was languishing in someone’s desk drawer, probably quite close to the recycle bin, was written by Carrie Evans and Emi Mochizuko. We can thank them for Martin Lawrence’s College Road Trip.
So what do you think? A winning combination? A future classic? A possible hit? I’m guessing yes … and that’s because of the zombies.
