Anime Spirit

Chihiro is my favorite hero. In preparation for all-day-anime at WonderCon, I’m recommending that anyone who hasn’t seen Spirited Away (in English), Hayao Miyazaki’s fantastic film (in Japanese), watch it. Chihiro, a crabby ten-year-old girl, manages to save humans and spirits alike in this mystic and mysterious work. It was produced by Studio Ghibli and was the first anime film to win an an Academy Award. In Japan it was bigger box office than Titanic. In fact, it became the highest-grossing film in Japanese history. I love it when the good guys win, though that doesn’t usually happen in the dark zombie realm. Next time … in the DEAD LOVE sequel. I especially love it that Chihiro gets to fly away on a dragon.
